Special Town Meeting 6 pm TONIGHT !

Special Town Meeting

TONIGHT!

6 PM

Please attend this meeting and support the wording of the article as submitted!

The landfill on route 202 in Templeton is closed and has been for a number of years. Templeton was required to close it by the DEP  in the 1990's. Templeton spent close to $1 million to cap the landfill and monitor it.  This landfill sits on top of the aquifer for 2 of Templeton's wells.

The last time any corporation with the name Casella in it came to town, the plan was to re-open that landfill, provide a "state-of-the art" liner and accept refuse/trash/garbage from the entire East Coast!

Templeton needs this bylaw to be reinstated ASAP as it is worded!

The Attorney General has approved this bylaw 9/2/1975; 9/28/1982; 6/18/2002 and 2/19/2004.

The landfill exists even though it is closed. The Attorney General has approved the wording on more than one occasion.
