DO NOT RECALL….Remember!

Dear voters:
There are candidates in the upcoming election on February 6, 2012 who want to maintain the “Status quo”. They have initiated the recall and are running to bring back the “status quo”; to reinstate the former town coordinator and to rehire former legal counsel.
I ask that you :

Remember unauthorized USDA loans

Remember exorbitant legal costs with K & P

Remember multi-million dollar Writs of attachment left to expire

Remember the bankruptcy case the Town was not a party to

Remember defamation of character lawsuit

Remember employee complaints swept under the rug

Remember public record requests routinely denied

Remember retaliation for votes on town meeting floor

Remember the DUMP

Remember TCAD

Remember American Tissue Mills

Remember the asphalt plant

Remember the Battle of the Bales

In Templeton we have come to a crossroad. Albert Einstein once said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. In Templeton we are still experiencing the effects of the recession. We have a record number of foreclosures and abandoned homes, loss of business and industry, an uncertain economic future. As a town we have used every cent of free cash to balance the budget. For this fiscal year, we voted to take $180,000 out of stabilization to pay for Worcester County retirement. As a town, we have made a practice of spending every penny that comes in. As a town we can NOT keep up these practices. If we maintain the “status quo” Templeton will end up bankrupt. If we maintain the “status quo” Templeton will end up in receivership.

For the financial well being of the Town, we need to end the practice of spending every penny that comes in. We need to work together to determine what are the core services the Town should provide. We need to put the political strife and turmoil behind us so we can carry on with the business of running town government. We need to leave the sideshow behind.

As a voter in Templeton, you have a clear choice in this election. I have worked for years to implement a change in town counsel. I believe this change in town counsel has allowed access to legal services by boards committees and commissions. I believe this legal access will lead to less litigation, fewer lawsuits, in the future. I have voted to create the necessary change in government to hire in a qualified town coordinator. Someone who brings a level of professionalism to the town coordinator position that is long overdue. Voters have a choice to elect someone who will work to create positive change, more effective government or they can vote for candidates who will revert back to the old regime, the “status quo”.

I believe I am the most qualified candidate for the Board of selectmen position. I hope you will support Bob Mitchell and me on Feb 6, 2012.

Please vote No and vote below.

Vote against the recall of Julie Farrell and then vote for Julie Farrell.

Vote against the recall of Robert Mitchell and then vote for Robert Mitchell.
