BOS Meeting October 15, 2012

I wanted to get this information out to people for Monday’s BOS meeting( October 22). The BOS decided to postpone a vote on the borrowing for the debt payment on 252 Baldwinville Rd.

I am making these documents available so residents can see what the impact of this borrowing will do to our budget. If you compare the 5 year, 7 year, and 10 year projections, you will see that at a MINIMUM the town (that’s you-the taxpayers) will need to come up with $766,000 to pay for the long term debt for this project aka BOONDOGGLE.

All of the payments to pay off this project MUST come under the levy limit, because that wording was used in the town meeting warrant article that approved the purchase for 252 Baldwinville Rd. What does that mean? When the budget process begins, the town needs to budget for this debt within its budget. We are in a hole already. The hole just got a lot deeper. If the 5 year plan is chosen, we will need to come up with an additional $160,000 to pay for one year’s worth of debt for this project.

When you estimate the value of the property at 252 Baldwinville Rd, we would be fortunate to get $350,000 ($50,000 less than we paid for the property). $350,000 is less than half of what we owe on the property.

This topic will be on the agenda for Monday’s BOS meeting (October 22, 2012). Discussion about the letter to TMLWP was also tabled for discussion until 10/22/12.

Please read these documents. Please educate yourself on these issues. I believe we are in this financial situation (mess) because people were NOT paying attention to activities in local government. We will need everyone to participate to help fix this financial mess.
We need EVERYONE to pay attention and attend meetings.

My opinions…supported by FACTS ! !

  1. When you find your self in a hole, the only way out is to start digging! This could not come at a worse time for the Town of Templeton. Its teachers, office workers, high way dept., all of them. With the economy in the toilet, this is just the frosting on the cake. To all of the Skelton followers, this is where your leader has led us, Off the cliff! All of the things I have been saying , Julie has been trying to say for months, is coming out in the wash. Am I happy, no I am not. The only way we will get through this is together. We need to have a higher authority look at this mess, so we can figure out what to do. Sign the petition, and come to the meeting on Monday night. Bev.

  2. Please talk to your neighbors, and relatives. Anyone that is interested in where their money goes, when they pay their taxes. This is, the time to pay attention to what is going on. Not when you get this large tax bill in your hand, with nothing to show for it. It does not do any good to yell at the tax collector, or assessor. It is time to show up, so you know what the options are left for your town. Bev.

  3. When you are in a hole over your head, you must STOP digging. Taxpaers need to begin to actually read the warrants for town meeting and selectmen need to have meetings, as in more than one to talk about and explain the warrant to the town so everyone knows and understands what the articles say and mean. 252 Baldwinville road sounded good as a town hall, one place stop n shop. Too bad it took so long for the truth to come out. Attend the meeting and ask the chairman what the plan is? Too bad the town cannot take the payment out of the retirement check of jerry skelton.

  4. Where are the genius leaders that led us to 252 Baldwinville Road? Have they given up on defending their Boondoggle and come to the realization that they made bad decisions for the town and the only ones that perhaps were going to benefit were the ones that negotiated the deal and overpaid for the building.

    1. They'll be back in the spring when its time to vote in two new selectmen. Just wait and watch. The early morning strategy breakfasts are still occurring. Even though you don't see GS at meetings, he's still pulling the puppet strings of his "dear friends". Even tough I know it will happen, it will amaze me that they would still have supporters after ALL the factual information (on paper) is out in the open. If you vote in dishonest people, you'll get dishonest leadership. I really hope there are new people that step up to run for selectman.
