No Second on Fluoride Warning

Well one thing is for sure, no one will ever underestimate the intelligence of Vice Chairman Donald Tourigny when it comes to his knowledge on information concerning fluoride and its effects on our health. At the first Thursday monthly meeting of the Board of Health (BOH) in November, on a motion made (read by Board of Health member Edward Stacy) and not seconded by other BOH members (concerning recommending a warning concerning mixing fluoridated water with infant formula) the BOH failed to vote on said recommendation.

Even though Vice Chairman Tourigny admitted to having not read much or any material concerning the health problems concerning fluoride, Mr. Tourigny seemed bothered to even having to second a motion (there was no second on the motion) concerning the following “Your public water supply is fluoridated. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, if your child under the age of 6 months is exclusively consuming infant formula reconstituted with fluoridated water, there may be an increased chance of dental fluorosis. Consult your child’s health care provider for more information.”
Chairman Trifilo who was at the meeting also failed to second the motion concerning mixing fluoridated water with infant formula even though this warning is a copy of New Hampshire bill HB 1416 that was voted favorably by the NH House by a vote of 253-23 passed the Senate unanimously and was signed into law by Governor John Lynch in early August of this year 2012.
After the motion failed discussion on fluoride was not allowed even though Chairman Trifilo had stated perhaps erroneously at last months meeting that fluoride in the water actually acts like a vaccine in regards to Early Childhood Caries (ECC) also known as Baby Bottle Tooth Decay (BBTD) and if evidence could be attained he would be open to discussion on the subject. No discussion was allowed even though evidence to the contrary of Chairman Trifilo’s assertion that fluoride acts as a vaccine in BBTD had been sent to the BOH office as requested by Chairman Trifilo.
The discussion concerning fluoride and BBTD would have revolved around the following topics had Chairman Trifilo allowed such discussion. Can breast feeding cause early childhood caries (rampant dental decay in toddlers)? Does fluoride in the drinking water reduce the incidence of early childhood caries? Can adding fluoride to drinking water reduce the prevalence or severity of baby bottle tooth decay?
According to Dr. Hardy Limeback BSc PhD(Biochemistry) DDS from the University of Toronto “It would be evolutionary suicide for breast milk to cause tooth decay” also “fluoridation does little to help toddlers with baby bottle tooth decay”. “Videos intended to pull on the heart strings of parents are effective but the tactic of using a traumatic dental visit where a toddler with baby bottle tooth decay has to have several teeth repaired at once is disingenuous and merely a scare tactic”. “Baby bottle tooth decay and early childhood caries are modern diseases caused primarily by a change in diet to foods high in sugar and low in nutrition”.
According to Dr. Limeback, “We know breast milk doesn’t cause early childhood dental decay but putting the baby to bed at night with a bottle filled with sugary liquid or even milk can cause rampant dental decay”. “What are other reasons why toddlers get rampant tooth decay”?
1.) low vitamin D levels (Schroth et al, 2012)
2.) enamel defects (Caufield et al, 2012)
3.) second hand smoke (Hanioka et al 2011)
4.) social disparities which result in more frequent sugar intake, more soda pop intake, less milk consumption, and less access to dental services (Vadiakas, 2008; Mobley et al, 2009)
Severe dental decay can occur even when the above risk factors are not present according to Limeback. Once the child is weaned off the bottle or breast and introduced to “adult” foods, the risk for caries increases. Substituting milk for juices is the first obvious problem because of the loss of calcium intake and a switch to the more destructive sugars fructose and, in most cases, added sucrose.
For a full discussion on the subject with Dr. Hardy Limeback please read the following link.
It is possible that Chairman Trifilo and Vice Chairman Tourigny decided not to second the motion concerning the warning of mixing fluoridated water with infant formula due to town politics and the austerity measures being implemented around town with many departments including the BOH.
The Board of Health may feel that they are being singled out and being persecuted by the Board of Selectmen and others who have taken to watching the budget more closely. If this is the case, and the motion to warn new mothers about an enzymatic poison (fluoride) that causes fluorosis (along with a host of other possible problems including lowering of IQ and an increase in osteosarcoma (cancer) risk) failed due to politics, then shame on Chairman Trifilo and Vice Chairman Tourigny for the disservice they are doing to the health our most vulnerable new citizens and the future of this Town of Templeton.

  1. It appears that the Scientific discussion with the Board of Health concerning fluoride has been put on hold by the some members of the Board of Health. This posturing concerning possible budget problems and holding anti-fluoride voters hostage to these budget problems does nothing to get the word out on the health hazards concerning fluoride. To me this is a misuse of power and responsibility by some members of the BOH. It is hoped all Templeton citizens will do their homework on this important topic because if you do not look, you will not find. Please sign the upcoming citizen's petition calling for a warning concerning mixing fluoridated water with infant formula along with the petition to end fluoridation in The Town of Templeton. For more information or to help with these citizen petitions please contact myself Pete Farrell at petefarrell44@hotmail.com Together we can remove this "devils poison" from our municipal water supply and try to regain a more healthful Templeton.

  2. Regardless of whether one believes the dangers of fluoride or not, why would the BOH refuse to pass on information to the public regarding the baby formula issue? I thought that dept was a resource for informing the public on all health issues. And if other sates see it relevant enough to pass a bill, why would our BOH declare it irrelevant for discussion?

The longer town officials continue to play this inbred, childish game of local politics, the longer they will keep the town dysfunctional and behind all other towns in progress. We cannot grow or evolve without discussion on any or all issues. Its our right and its their duty.

    1. I am very sad that these people have such a bad attitude. If I was a new mother, I would want to know that there was floride in the water. If there was a chance that it would hurt my child, then I could decide if I wanted to use town water, or buy bottled water. New people coming to town, more than likely, do not have a clue! To refuse, to listen or have a discussion is so wrong. Their personel adjenda should play no part in their Board of Health decisions. It is very apparent that it does, and that is to bad. Credit goes to Mr. Stacey for trying. Shame on the rest of them, for not having the balls to second the motion. This is all about giving the people the information, and letting them make a decision. What the hell is so wrong with that?? This has nothing to do with the financial mess we are in. The people on this board, need to know they are no different, than any other board in this town. You can want, want, want, all you want, if there is no money, there is no money! The misguided promises they have made to agent, may come back to haunt the town. Time will tell with that one, but these people have failed to do their job. My opinion, Bev

  3. Ditto Anonymous 9:16. Can someone from our BOH help explain what is going on concerning this warning on fluoride and why the discussion is kaput. Is Mr. Farrell not telling the truth in regards to fluoride that article by Limy had a lot of references.

  4. How much is the town paying for the fluoridation of it's water supply. If it is so important then have it done in the schools by a dentist or other trained professional!

    1. I think it has become a you can't tell us what to do, issue. Right or wrong, has nothing to do with it as far as I can tell! It would seem to me, the fact that the Gov. of New Hampshire, signed into law, a warning concerning mixing floridated water, with baby formular, in August 2012, that it would ring a bell in the minds of these people who are charged with keeping the people of this town healthy!! Once a warning is issued, then mothers, or care takers of all the kids in this town, can make a decision on their own. If you do not tell them, that there may be a problem with this issue, and all the while you have kept it to your self, I would not want to be the one responsable, for problems down the road. It really boils down to doing the right thing, why is that so hard?? Oh yes its' because those Farrell people said it was true. Get real, or resign, do your job, or quit. That is what it boils down to! My opinion, Bev.

  5. I think you are all getting this WRONG . The biggest Health problem we have in this town Is the chairman of the Board of Health . Mr Triffilo . Have you ever met or talked to anyone else with there head up there own ass as much as he ? Management of a health board is a very serious thing . As chairman of that board it is his legal if not moral obligation to bring any Possible heath risk out in the open for discussion . Not doing so could put the town at risk .

    1. Sorry but, I think I said the same thing as you, only in a different way. I agree with you 100% I think we should do something different. How about letting any one you know, about this dispute, especially if they have a newborn or very young child. There are so many new people in this town. It is time for them to learn how politics work, in a little town setting. Unlike living in a city, you do have a say. I do not want this to turn into a circus, like when the recall people ran around town like they were going to a rock concert. If these young mothers or older grand mothers, have a concern about the Bd. of Health's general lack of understanding, it is time to say so. Pass the word, these people need to go to this blog, just so they will learn what is going on in this town. If you own a house, pay rent, have kids, breath the air, or drink the water, you need to read this blog. There are no lies, only facts, that you will not find any where else. Bev.

  6. I have emailed the link to this blog to the Board of Health and to individual members Mr. Trifilo and Mr. Stacy so that they may if they wish respond to this issue. I do not have Vice Chairman Tourigny's email address so anyone who does may wish to keep Mr. Tourigny informed.

  7. Lets just add a few more poisons to help reduce our immune systems. Or to hasten a quicker death if we decide to start ingesting (eating) used motor oil while we run out of non-GMO foods. In time we will have the enzymes to digest it.

In case this might bother any future drinking water users. We can expand the pharmacy cocktail to include a closely related compound to (fine looking teeth in the coffin benefit) a cousin of the devils poison.

A so called legally prescribed medication trade name tm "PROZAC". Prozac only contains 35% fluoride elements for you safety. Yet it does seem to create zombie like symptoms as a major side effect to the long list of other side effects. {{If you don't know you don't seem to CARE!}} Has any of this sunk in yet?

  8. If this is a non-issue as the BOH Director seems to believe, how come toothpaste companies are selling non-fluoride toothpaste for toddlers now? Look at the ads on this blog that have been triggered by this conversation. "Orajel for Toddlers". Someone must think its a problem if there are products on the market advertising that they are fluoride-free.

If the BOH Director works for many other BOH's in other towns, is he also refusing to entertain conversations in those towns too?

  9. I would venture that no young parents are looking to the board of health for advice on anything.

They would, of course, look to their physician. The BOH is irrelevent.

    1. Maybe the C4T should make all the local physicians aware that Templeton has floride in its water system. This may be a way take of protecting our children. The younger people in our community have so little time, when the have to travel work, and back. I understand that as parents, they can not do it all. This will be a issue we will as a group, can discuss. Our aim is to protect our residents, by bringing to the fore front issues that will affect their wallets, and their quality of life, Young and old alike Bev.

    2. Your Right Mark, the only time I think of the board of health is when someones septic system backsup and smells up the neighborhood, THAT is what those guys are good for, anything above that they are useless.

  10. Here's a little something in regards to fluoride from the past here in Massachusetts. Thomas R. Camp Minority Report, Legislative Study Commission,1968 "In view of the facts, it is recommended that legislation be passed in Massachusetts prohibiting the sale of fluorides for human ingestion whether in the drinking water, food or tablets."
In 1968 it was common knowledge that fluoride was and is an enzymatic poison. Also of interest concerning Linus Pauling and his endorsement of fluoride as a Noble Prize winner was his dependency on grant money from the US Department of Health the overseer of fluoridation. If treason prosper none dare call it treason.
