Dear Local Official:
Senator Brewer is
pleased to inform you that he just received a phone call from Glen Shor,
Secretary of the Executive Office of Administration and Finance, relative to
the Governor's decision to restore key education accounts that were cut earlier
this year through the 9C process:
* $1 million to the
Regional School Transportation Account;
* $5.25 million to the
McKinney-Vento Homeless Student Transportation Account; and,
* $11.5 million to the
Special Education Circuit Breaker.
As always, please do not
hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or need additional
information.
Sincerely,
Kate

If this means that the school district is going to get more money than they thought they were going to get, then it is time for Ms. Miller to sharpen her pencil. She could make a honest attempt to make some changes to her budget. Eliminate a principal and vice principal from the high school or middle school. I have spoken to some people who are ready to cut our town budget, and let the chips go where they lay. I had a friend ask me if the town would really lay off their workers? I told her the truth! Yes, there is no money in this town's budget. I could see how interested the younger people really are in the making of the town budget, as they all stayed home after their article passed. It is sad, as in countries like Afghanistan, women will die to have the right to vote. I hope that the town and the School Dept. will come to a budget both can live with. Our town workers have been hurt enough. They need our support. Bev.
