Down haer on the lower forty we haven't heard a good camping song since the Taft, Roosevelt,Wilson campaign when I was a lad. " best dog gone hogs in the east" Keep Templeton a farming community!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with having Templeton a farming community any longer. Most of the fields that Paul Laine used to cut for hay are now filled with houses. Most of the good land that was used for farming was sold off for building lots during the last building boom. Thank goodness for the small backyard farmers in our community. They are the only ones to keep any farming alive. I feel great pride when people come to us for vegetable plants, and sometimes advice on how to increase the yield they will get at the end of their planting season, and common sense solutions to problems that have been passed down for generations. Growing anything is more difficult now than it was before, due to the insects and diseases that have come into our country from plants and animals from other countries. Being on top of new technologies is something that people need to be aware of even if you never need to use any of the things they suggest. For instance, Asian Stink Bugs wiped out our raspberry crop a couple of years ago. How did they find South Road, Templeton is beyond me? Just from the classes we attend gives us a greater understanding to what we were dealing with, and how to combat the problem. As for a good campaign song, maybe we can come up with something, we will see what we can do. Bev.

Deleteklackity-klack, Sorry bud, you are wrong. I own the house I am living in and have owned it since my dad gave me the land in 1965. I own 26 acres across the street that came from my dad's estate. My two sisters own the balance of the property. Bart and I have planted raspberries, blueberries and elderberries on part of the property and it is the beginning of the Kenesto Brook, that starts in the woods. My father always treated his property with respect, only taking what he needed and no more. The wood we cut kept us warm, and we always planted a potato garden and a vegetable garden to get us through the winter. The things I learned and some of the things we did, people do not experience any longer, and that is too bad. I try to pass along useful information so it will be of help to the younger generation. You just never know when something will come in handy. Bev.

DeleteIf you click on the Bob Mitchell for Selectmen link you will be able to hear Bob Mitchell's campaign song. To my knowledge this is the first campaign song in Templeton for a candidate for Selectman.
