Heywood to host Evergreen Fair on Dec. 5, 6
GARDNER — The Heywood Hospital Aid Association is holding its annual Evergreen Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 6 at the hospital, 242 Green St. There will be a theme basket raffle, bake sale, craft table, evergreens, wreaths, boxwoods and more.

I am glad to see so much activity around the Common and the Historical Society. Going into the society building always gives me a feeling of pride for the resilient people who came before me, and stayed to make a town. Life was not easy for our early settlers, but they were tough. This is a way to remember the past for Templeton's long time residents, and a way to grow new roots for the people new to town. This tradition of lighting the holiday tree was one of Gladys's joys, and even if she is not there any longer, I know she is there in spirit. Bev.
