WORCESTER — In an effort to get more fire hydrants shoveled out, the city is offering a chance at prize packages to residents who do their part.
The city is joining with the Worcester Sharks, the Worcester Bravehearts, the DCU Center and the Harlem Globetrotters for the program. Every resident who posts a photo of a shoveled-out hydrant on Twitter or Facebook with the hashtag #woochallenge will be entered to win a prize package from one of the three teams. Residents can also tag the city's official social media accounts: @tweetworcester on Twitter or Worcester Massachusetts (Government) on Facebook.
In addition having a shot at the three grand prize packages, the first 20 people to post will get a free ticket to the Globetrotters game at 7 p.m. March 27. Drawings for the prize packages will take place throughout February and March, starting this weekend before the Sharks game, according to the city.

Maybe the Templeton Light and Water department could offer an incentive for shoveling out the hydrants?
We pay taxes, we pay charges for light and water bills and what do we get for these bills? These entities buy equipment and have employees and it is or should be part of their job to do this work. If you want the rate payers / taxpayers to do this work then their bill for services should be reduced by the equivalent of an employees wages for three hours. No free chances for a maybe win because what happens if I shovel, I get entered but my name is not drawn? I end up doing someone else's work for nothing and I still end up with a bill for services, just wonderful!!

DeleteI'm with Jeff, If Randy would just get out of the truck and do something for his pay that would be HUGE. It should really be their job as throughout the day, everyday, they just drive around and waste gas, WHY NOT do something!!!

ReplyDeleteAs we look into the future of Templeton business and other things. We will repost some things we told the public were about to happen and were called trouble makers and other names. The problem is those who told you about it were right. Rates going up. Windturbine dead. Money problems at the TMLWP. The past blogs will rerun and tell the story of who should be in office and who should be replaced. We can't rewrite history but we have the past Blogs to rerun and then the people will know the truth!
