WORCESTER - The Massachusetts Port Authority is scheduled to conduct an emergency response drill Tuesday morning at Worcester Regional Airport.
According to Massport, the drill will include a plane crash scenario for responders to test coordination, communication and response in the event of a major incident. The airport will remain open during the drill, which begins at 8:30 a.m.
Mutual aid partners participating include Worcester and Leicester police and fire departments, state police, the American Red Cross, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Aviation Administration.
It has been reported that on 9/11 the planes were hi-jacked over the omni on Dobier Hill Rd. and that FEMA and the FAA were involved with drills with other large agencies. It is strange how these drills often are associated with strange happenings. Here is the FEMA drill on 9/11. Drills
ReplyDeleteWhen Bart and I were coming home from Hawaii, one time, the pilot told us we were going over the Gardner correction. That was when we went over the omni. We were descending so fast my ears hurt. At one time there were people working up there, but then they put in equipment that did not require people. When I was a kid, we went up there and believe it or not there is a well on the side of the hill. It may have been used by the Templeton Inn, when it was in use. Where do you think the septic for the inn and the houses in Templeton Center went in early days ? One place I know of is the 25 acres the town owns behind the houses on Wellington Road. So they say it is wet ! Well no kidding. I am willing to bet more than one drain is still going there today. Take away or move the reasons this area is wet, and just maybe it could have been used for the school. Bev.
