#9 Concerns about the proposed elementary school
Concerns about the proposed elementary school *
9) The plan lacks adequate parking for staff and school events. By several counts at present there are between 26 and 30 cars parked at the school during school hours. Tripling the size of the school would likely require parking for 75-90 staff.
Having read the Schools Need Report back in the late nineties it was apparent to me that an Elementary School was needed at the time. My father who was a school administrator for many years and on the school committee gave me the report and agreed with my assessment. The town went in another direction with the need for neighborhood elementary schools winning the day. Since that time this happened. InsideJob My outlook has changed somewhat concerning the value of State sponsored schooling. In fact this short segment come close to what I am seeing in our society. Schooling Before we go into debt for something that ultimately detracts from a healthy society we as a town should get to know where things went wrong.
It does sound like the lack of parking, the lack of a place to play and just about every thing else, that does not make any sense, has been ignored by those who should know better. Brace yourself for a letter that should be in the mail, giving you all the reasons you should vote for this project. Everyone has the right to vote any way they want. I just hope people will vote. I was just thinking. What will they do with the snow, the lack of parking and other problems they have conveniently ignored, if this school on South Road becomes a reality ? Your guess is as good as mine.
