WESTMINSTER - Two people were seriously injured when their motorcycle struck a sign post about 1 p.m. at East Main Street and State Road East (Route 2A) during the Ride of Your Life.
Westminster, Gardner and state police were assisting at the motorcycle charity ride, for which riders left Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fitchburg about 10 a.m. Riders were returning when the crash occurred, Westminster police wrote in a news release.
The driver of the motorcycle suffered injuries requiring a Life Flight helicopter to be called. Both the driver and passenger were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus in Worcester.
Sunday night, police were withholding any information about the injured people. Investigators from the state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section were called to assist in the investigation.
The ride is a fundraiser for suicide prevention.
