It's that time of year again. Long summer days. Some of us may be looking for new employment opportunities. I just got off the phone with a long time friend who is looking to make an employment change.

That conversation brought to mind the last time I applied for a new job and the rigamarole that entails. I couldn't remember the guidelines for CORI checks so I decided to look that up.

An interesting piece of information I discovered is that anyone can do a self audit for FREE! 

I got to thinking this Self Audit might be a good thing to do. Like checking your credit score on a periodic basis. Here is the LINK.

Looks like there are some pretty significant consequences, if M.G.L. c. 6, §172 is not followed correctly.

"..., shall, for each offense, be punished by imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than one year or by fine of not more than $5,000."

"A requestor that uses CORI to commit a crime against, OR TO HARASS, another individual may be subject to the criminal penalties set forth in M.G.L. c. 6, §178 1⁄2, including imprisonment in a jail or house of correction for not more than one year and a fine of not more than $5,000.0."

Interesting information. It may be a good idea to do a Self Audit!
