GARDNER — Police are warning the public about another case of adults potentially trying to abscond with young girls.

Two young females were approached on Tuesday in Gardner by an older white man with gray hair and glasses, and an older white woman with blonde hair, who attempted to coax the two young females into a van, police said.

They warned people to be on the lookout for a maroon/dark red older model van, with windows on all sides and tan curtains covering them.

Earlier this summer, police from both Gardner and Hubbardston were on the lookout for a man who had been acting suspiciously to young girls from his car.

Gardner Police reported that on June 12 two young women were approached by an older white man with blonde hair, driving a white van.

The man offered the girls candy and told them to get in his van, but they took off running.

Also, in Hubbardston at about 8 a.m. on June 11, two 11-year-old girls were waiting for a bus when they saw a white van with tinted back windows, driven by a man in a hat and glasses, filming and taking pictures of them, according to Hubbardston Police.

The girls then fled and told their mother.

The next day, it was reported that a man with “Einstein”-like hair was driving a black vehicle in the Comet Pond area of Hubbardston, asking a jogging 14-year-old girl personal questions about her home, making her uncomfortable to the point where she reported it to the police.

“I would be cautious. I don’t think there is too concern, but report anything suspicious as soon as they can. We are here for the public and we are here for their safety,” Hubbardston Sgt. Ryan Couture said at the time.

The Gardner Police Department is asking the public to be diligent and to call in suspicious activity that could be related to this incident at 978-632-5600, ext. 0.
