October 9th
The
next meeting for Templeton Light and Water has been posted for Tuesday, October
9th. The Water meeting
will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Light
meeting will begin at the conclusion of the water meeting.
I
plan on attending these meetings. I still have many unanswered questions about
the water main breaks, my summer water usage, and the audit for the wind
turbine.
I
finally located the job
description for the manager of TMLWP.
There
is a conflict with the BOS meeting
scheduled for October 9th. I
hope the meeting conflicts are resolved .

Maybe they can tell us why the windmill does not turn? I think it has to turn to make power? seems gardner windmills both turned all day today 10-5-2012 and made power!Templeton windmill did not turn all day! Why and how much did it cost us for it not to turn?

I'm sure the audit can tell us the bottom line and we will know who knows what?
My thought here is another day with no income from the windmill,cost to have it is growing more and more each day not producing power$$$
have we purchased to much power or what?

Mike Beaudette from Fox 25 news did a story on the wind turbines in MA this morning. He spoke about the 2 turbines at the Gardner prison. He also interviewed the Light Manager in Princeton who stated that their turbine is costing the town money and has jacked their rates to the highest in the state. Basically, he said buying the turbine was a mistake. If I remember, our turbine is the same one as Princeton's. It was nice to see the Light Manager willing to speak publicly. Maybe Mr. Driscoll could learn a thing or two from this man.

Maybe Mike B should have called Sterling and asked to speak to Sean Hamilton the one who got us into this turbine mess when he was here as L&W manager. Have we ever seen the audit results for the turbine?
DeleteEvary day theres no production from the wind turbine is another day we have to pay for!why when theres wind does'nt it produce? Add friday to the end of the pay back date and cross our fingers that it does'nt blow up like the others they made!

Has anyone looked at the agends for the Light and Water meetings?

Who posts these agendas? The chairman of the light and water commission or the manager?
Why is this meeting posted for the same night as the BOS meeting? I plan on skipping the BOS meeting. I think everyone and anyone who has questions about the water main breaks, water bills and the turbine should put those questions in writing and ask the light and water commissioners for a written report.
Be respectful and ask for the truth. See you Tuesday night!

The only problem with his going out on disability, he is still going to cost us money. We have to pay his pension, and insurance. Alot out for not much in return, if you ask me. This is a chicken way out of a job he can't do. If you ask a man to run a light co.,then say oh yah, you can run the water dept too, what the hell, do we expect. This is really on the water and light commissioners, they should have shown him the door, but No, it looks like we will have a workmans comp. case instead. Nice going guys.This is my opinion, Bev.
DeleteI can see it is very stressful to have to answer for the previous two LW Managers' poor decisions and management as well as defend your own quality of management. But if this task is too much, then resign. Don't continue to cost the town money. It just makes the situation far worse. Didn't someone else go out on disability due to stress a while ago? Who was that? Oh yes, someone who sued the town twice. Ah, so now I know where the advice to go on disability came from! Goes to show you should choose your friends wisely because if you're ever put in a position by your friends to be a scapegoat, it can be very stressful.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching the fox 25 stoey on turbines I conclude we are in big trouble, yes I said we, weather we like it or not the department we call light and water have us up the creek without a paddle!If princeton gm is correct about payback time were about to suffer the shortfall of at least 3-5 years if it runs that long!

it's junk in 20-25,thats its life span add it up. Were locked in for 10 years now and everybody's bills are going up for us.While others are going down due to natural gas to electric power, great job. Better save the rec credits boys for the payment on the turbine when its dead.Time to evaluate the whole mess and fix the broken things we find.

The thing about the Princeton manager is at least he's communicating with the public. He is not delivering good news, but at least he's delivering the news. With so many problems facing our town, the people involved are not communicating facts and info to the citizens. And its so frustrating. We want to know the facts and we want to help solve the problems. Simple as that. The front loader that the Highway Dept needed is a good example. The Dept head presented the problem, presented facts and figures, the subject was given a good length of discussion with many opinions included, and a solution was made. The solution is not ideal. But it was the best one considering our situation right now. This is how so many other problems need to be handled in town if Templeton is going to evolve and survive. Municipal utilities, surplus real estate, financial obligations, outstanding taxes, infrastructure, town facilities (town hall, school, police station), emergency services, community services -- these all need to be given the same attention, required to provide detailed reports with facts and figures, time for all officials and citizens to express their opinions, and an intelligent, responsible decision has to be made. This is no time to play politics or games. This is flat out business that needs to be handled responsibly.

DeleteIf anyone wants an answer to how the town got in the fix go is in simply get hold of the May 24, 2010 meeting minutes for the selectmen. Carol Skelton clearly states she was asking the selectmen to set a pay rate for the conservation agent on an emergency basis, because if we do not pay him he can sue the town. If you look at the town meeting warrant for May 2010, there was a question to change the agent from a grade 6 to a grade 10. That change for the agent was removed from the warrant by a vote of town meeting. I know because I spoke against it for about 30 minutes and I brought the amendment proposal to town meeting floor. Officially the conservation agent went into town meeting a grade 6 and when town meeting was over, he was still a grade 6. However, he was being paid as a grade 10. Within those minutes, you will also see a statement credited to town attorney Joe Fair that the conservation agent was being paid outside of grade. So Carol Skelton and company was trying to keep the agents pay as high as possible rather than tell him he was going to have to be paid at about $14.83 per hour rather than the over $20.00 per hour that he had been receiving. That is how this blog got started. The board of selectmen on that night voted to increase the agent's pay to grade 6 top step, almost $20.00 per hour On the night she was let go, I asked about this and her response was "the selectmen sign off on that, not me" Well carol, you are the one who brought that up "on an emergency basis" when there was no freakin emergency, other than in your head. That is part of how Templeton got so screwed up financially, with carol and jerry skelton at the helm. The records are all there. That of course is my opinion. But go check the records and make your call.Carol and jerry skelton along with shaun grimley came up with the plan to pay the agent at grade 10 when he had been hired at grade 6, from a recommendation from the consultant Templeton taxpayers paid for to set salary for various town employees.
