My Name is Paul H Cosentino. I started this Blog in 2011 because of what I believe to be wrongdoings in town government. This Blog is to keep the citizens of Templeton informed. It is also for the citizens of Templeton to post their comments and concerns.

Templetons share of Chapter 90 monies
Templeton would get back from the state via chapter 90 $516,323.00, the figure with a 300 million dollar chapter 90 bill for 2014. Hopefully the legislature will make this happen. This would be an increase of over 100 thousand from the 2013 number, $344,216.00. On another note, some people who live in say East Templeton may question why we (the town) has spent so much of chapter 90 money on one area, as in Backbay area. It is very simple, we as a town have been working to improve one area of town that really needed it and I think it is very important to completely finish one project of this kind before moving on. There is simply to little money to do complete multiple road or neighborhood redos. In my opinion, it just makes sense to work on one area at a time and yes I know others areas in Templeton need the same attention and when Backbay is done, perhaps it is time to focus on East Templeton. Unfortunately, the need is great and the area is large but the dollars available are not. One way to help your neighborhood and perhaps get the attention and work that you desire is to attend selectmen meetings and let us know. I would call and email our state reps and tell them to make this happen. Thank you.

Can anybody tell me when the town ever voted to make the old E.T.School our new town hall ??
ReplyDeleteI guess you haven't paid attention to the BOS meetings for the last 5 months.
DeleteIts a no brainer. Its paid for. Why spend millions on a new building when a building we have will do. Remember. Jerry's way cost us millions in the past 10 years and we have nothing to show for it except debt.
ReplyDeleteWake up people ! Just because we own that 100 year old building doesnt put us ahead of the game . That school building will cost in the millions to bring up to code for use as a municipal office. I have been watching all the selectman meetings and know Mr.Spring is trying his best ,but lets face the truth He is WAY OVER HIS HEAD .

DeleteIf the town chooses to spend "millions of dollars" to bring ET up to code it can. I don't think that will happen. I don't think the townspeople will allow that to happen.
Where is the harm in trying to preserve the roof, so the building doesn't go to ruin while the town explores its options. Housing all town departments in one location needs to happen. ET is one option.
I think people are awake. I commend Mr. Spring for actively working on behalf of the town, whether on the advisory board or trying to stave off the deterioration of ET.
We need more people to step up and help the town.
I guess you weren't watching as closely as you should have. Thank goodness for Mr. Spring and all the work he's done for this town. If you're that concerned about it, go have a tour of the building and see for yourself. I can tell you this, it will cost less than putting a new building at 252 Baldwinville Road. $700k spent and for what? And it certainly will be better than what we have now...crap offices in three different buildings. Stop trying to push your childish agenda and grow up. Put your energy toward something positive instead of trying to tear down people.
DeleteWhy pay more than the appraised value for a prime piece of commercial real estate?
ReplyDeleteWhy not re-purpose an old elementary school for town office space?
Anonymous 8:25 You just can"t stand it when someone want's to do good for the Town!! What in the hell is your problem?? I am about sick of you guys that only want to bring down, anything good! It is like all the crap about the Candidates night, Tom always puts on. He does it for the people in the town. Now we have a problem because we need to have two!! Why is that? The election is held on one day, so should the Candidates Night, be held on one night. If you care enough, you can get there! If you can't arrange your life for one night, with plenty of notice, by the way, Tough luck!! It seems to me that East Templeton could use something nice in that neighborhood. It will work or it won't!! We need to get all our departments under one roof. It is too costly to heat all the old buildings, and it will be easier on the people to get all their work done, without running from one precinct to another. This is my opinion, Bev
