June 27 STM Warrant Articles

Last night the BOS voted the warrant articles for the Special Town Meeting on June 27th. The warrant will be posted today to meet the 14-day posting requirement for a STM. The official copy will be posted to the Town website as soon as possible.

Contrary to the article in the TGN yesterday…no wait a minute. The word “article” assumes some journalistic integrity…you know like getting both sides of a story.   Contrary to the Local Op-Ed piece in the TGN news yesterday, which is filled with misinformation, the BOS has presented a plan to avert the water “crisis”. It is a compromise.

Article 6 creates a new bylaw regarding the municipal water department. If approved, this bylaw will be reviewed for legality by the Attorney General’s office. It should settle the “enterprise fund” issue once and for all…as in, “put it to rest.”

Article 7 provides enough money for the water department to operate and time for the Attorney General to review the bylaw. Contrary to the “local OP-ED” disinformation, bylaws are reviewed in a different time frame than Open Meeting Law complaints filed by Julie Farrell [TMLWP violated the OML].

Rep. Andrews has been contacted regarding this issue. If article 6 passes at the STM, it should be reviewed as quickly as possible by the AG’s Office. If there is no decision by the AG’s Office in the fall, then a STM can appropriate more money to operate the water department.

This proposal by the BOS, Articles 6 and 7 should allow the water department to operate and a decision to be made on this issue at little to no cost to the Town.  If you wish to see an end to the strife between TMLWP and the Town, then please support these articles at the STM on June 27th!

BTW – was an illegal meeting held in the hallways while the BOS continued to discuss agenda items on Monday June 10th? Were the TMLWP Chairman, manager and attorney discussing strategy in the hallway? Without posting a meeting? Without a quorum of Commissioners? Isn’t that a violation of the Open Meeting Law? You would think they would have the decency to go back to their lair on Bridge St for such discussion.

My opinions…supported by FACTS ! ! !

  1. Something was going on in the hall after the Light and Water people left the room. I could hear loud voices. Mr.DeRensis was going to leave, but stopped in the door way. I do not think he wanted to interfere, with what was taking place. Why can't these people play nice? The BOS made arrangements for everyone to get paid. They could carry on as usual, and let the AG, make a finding. That would be a sensible thing to do, but no, they do not want to give up the power they think they have. TGN, once again failed to tell the truth. Articles had improved, with the new young lady, covering Templeton. True to form Andre Cammino, who writes the OPED, has remained true to the Echo Hill Gang. What is that old saying, "Don't believe everything you read"! In this case, don't believe anything he writes. Poor JD, overworked boy! His tale of woe, almost had me crying!! If he had so much trouble filling Mr.Springs request, why didn't he have his secretary help him out? At $43,271.00, it seems she could be running the department. She certainly makes ENOUGH. The formula for loyalty at Light and Water, comes from $$$. The people in this town are being taken advantage of, have no doubt about it. The good old boys can charge the people in this town whatever they want, by adding on things that are not covered by law. A seasonal charge? A charge for being a customer? They have done this, and will continue to, because you and I have no say. Bubba walked into the Selectmen's office with a Citizen's petition yesterday morning. It is to ask the town to give the Light and Water their full budget. If they get this or not depends on you and your neighbors. Remember, Government is run by those who show up! There is a constant drain on your pocketbook, from the Light and Water and the school department. Many can afford it, but there are many who are on fixed incomes, who can not. I have a problem with the Commissioners and Manager, because they have told me to my face, they do not give a dam about the problems in town, and have no interest in helping out. They have faith in their lawyer, I think he is wrong. Our Town Council is a very experienced man. He is not out to get rich, and has advised us to go to the AG. L&W's man wants to go to court. Even if they loose, he still gets paid. A WIN,WIN for him. Talk to your neighbors, let them know the truth. This is important to you and everyone else in this town. We cannot enable these people to run wild, with our money. It is time to tell them, we have had ENOUGH!! My opinion, Bev
