Ritter finalist for Sterling position

Ritter finalist for Sterling position

Templeton town administrator one of three hopefuls being considered

TEMPLETON — Templeton Town Administrator Jeffrey Ritter is one of three finalists being considered for the  role of town administrator in Sterling.

Mr. Ritter, a Harvard resident, has been serving in Templeton since January 2011. He formerly served as town administrator in Hatfield and as assistant town administrator in Harvard.

Earlier this week, Mr. Ritter had a second interview with the Sterling Board of Selectmen along with his fellow finalists. They are Michael Szlosek, who served as town manager in Athol and Uxbridge and town administrator in South Hadley and Ludlow, and Carter Terenzini, who is currently town administrator in Moultonborough, N.H., and served as a town administrator in Spencer, city manager of Mt. Morris, Mich., and town manager in Castleton, Vt.

Sterling’s current Town Administrator Terri Ackerman — who has been with the community since May 2007 — plans to leave by the end of the year.

Sterling’s selectmen plan to make their decision Dec. 4, according to Executive Assistant Kama Jayne.

  1. Mr. Ritter is a good man. No one else would put up with the abuse he has, especially from some of the Echo Hill supporters. Anyone working for the town has endured a lot of stress, especially having to wonder if you have a job or not, or if you will have a staff. I do not want to loose this man, he has worked hard to help the town run more efficiently, and does need to be made Administrative Director if he would be willing to stay. I am willing to bet our friend that went to work in Sterling, does not want Mr. Ritter looking over his shoulder. Hee, hee.

    1. Good job by the highway to get the roads sanded last night. It seems like it has been a long time since we had snow this early. People supported the town workers, and for some of them it was not a easy decision, but they voted yes. There is only so much people can give, I wish more people understood that. Last night was not a good night to be homeless, and today will not be much better. When you snuggle under the covers and listen to the wind blow, count your blessings. We are very fortunate that we have good people to keep our roads safe, and dedicated police to keep most of the bad guys away. On a brighter side, Go Pats, I will stick with Brady and Gronk. !! Bev.

    2. The comment about our "friend" that went to work in Sterling only serves to lessen the value of what you write Bev Bart. It does, however, serve to increase the value of this blog as a place of personal opinions, thoughts and reflections. Unfortunately, all these personal comments and diatribes made by you and others do not support the blog as the place to go to get the facts about the town of Templeton.

    3. VOR, I use "our" and some time use "we" to include the people who work for the town and also sometimes the people who work hard to support the town in different ways. Using "we", or using "our" is my way of speaking. I also said "we are very fortunate that we have good people to keep our roads safe, and dedicated police to keep most of the bad guys away." So yes, this is my opinion, take it or leave it. I used to end my blogs by saying" this is my opinion", but got out of the habit. So, just so you have a clear understanding I will say once again, this is my opinion, Bev.
