My Name is Paul H Cosentino. I started this Blog in 2011 because of what I believe to be wrongdoings in town government. This Blog is to keep the citizens of Templeton informed. It is also for the citizens of Templeton to post their comments and concerns.
Can someone tell me what happens if we vote down the easement? seriously, does the water just go into the street randomly if this measure gets rejected?
As far as I know , water will still flow downhill.
The Advisory Committee was told the easement should be secured whether the school project proceeds or not. A larger question is where does the water end up?
If the easement is obtained and the drainage issues resolved there will be a whole lot more water being dumped where exactly?
Has the Conservation Commission had a hearing on this issue?
It looks like the water is just redirected onto private property owners land. Julie, do you know how this building is designed to be heated? I'm just wondering because we are building a 21st century school and we are heating it with...........wood, oil?
Sharon......It's truly hard to believe a 21st century school would plan to burn oil rather than use some form of heat pump/solar. What are we paying the premium price for if not a premium school? Oil wasn't acceptable in the High School so we got a wood........opps propane then woodchip boiler. It truly feels like I live in a schizophrenic town.
Look at our budget...
"we are broke" potentially owning 860,000+ for past years errors and we are planning on spending more than we are legally allowed to without approval. Said approval application requires a bond rating to apply based on application. If I'm not mistaken the school has 88 parking spaces including 13 behind the police station for a building designed for 500 kids, faculty and administration. Parent teacher nights should be interesting, plays. Should also be interesting getting a 911 call out during morning or afternoon buses/parents walking children.......
The more I learn about this the more it appears to be a clusterf.....?
Oh, to all the people who live on Wellington Rd. Watch the video of 2nd planning board meeting and them to the statement that "No constructions vehicles will go down Wellington beyond the school" and will exit through the school grounds onto South Rd.
Overpriced building Insufficient parking Improper drainage Outdated heating method Disruption to Emergency access
All at a cost that might be as high as 170% of the proposed cost when we voted on the School.
Even if you believe the town requires a new school, which I dont dispute has merit, this is not the school this town needs.
Why not go with Oil, it has been the longest most proven method of heat that WORKS. Every other source has been tried and discarded then tried again thru the years, Oil always comes out on top.
Geothermal heat pumps would save the town how much money over the 50 yrs of expected life to this building? How much would it cut the carbon footprint of the school.
"DO" if its so great what was the reasoning for removing it from the High School?
With out any applications files for grants for energy even solar will be a added cost for the town. We will however get brackets on the roof for solar panels. Brackets! Do our grant funds get eaten alive by our Municipal light department? Other towns and cities get grant monies for lights and heat upgrades. We were told 250k was grant monies on the chip boiler. Why no solar grant for Templeton?
David, who is the towns official "grant writer". I remember having a conversation with Gardners grant writer years ago. He was saying then that "grants are available for virtually everything" but most towns dont know its available.

Removing it from the high school was an idiotic idea that will be regretted for a long time
