Just a reminder to vote today polls are open 11-7. It was asked by someone in town why it wasn't posted in town sooner than today to remind people. It was also brought up at the Advisory Board meeting and Charlies "Round Table" why it is not stated that the school vote is an over ride. VW made the comment the post was legal. Well as someone pointed out at the advisory Board meeting it may be legal but it does not give the taxpayers the correct information. So let me make this clear THE BALLOT QUESTION FOR THE $224,000.00 FOR THE SCHOOL IS AN OVERRIDE!!!! IT WILL SAY ON THE TAX RATE FOREVER!!!!! Get it? The Fixing of the road article is ONE YEAR ONLY and the Truck and Loader Articles are ONE YEAR FOR A LEASE - On these we will have to vote on them again next year.
oh and how did these articles get written - well Mr Ritter was not back yet and the person from the town office who wrote them - just looked back at previous Ballot votes and copied the wording then sent them to K & P and K&P said they were fine. now you can't blame the office person who just copied them from previous years. But you can look at who was in control in previous years - CS-GS-BC-DO and you can ask "why didn't K & P advise that the articles be written differently to explain it better. They had no problem rewriting all the TM articles and charging us! So VW do why don't you want the taxpayers to have the correct information when they go to the polls?
Thanks for reading. Pauly
Add it to the list, one more reason to eliminate K&P from the law offices we should consider to be next years town lawyers. The fine line between legal and illegal. Just lacking enough information to give residents the imformation they need to make a good decision. This kind of game playing is not good, it is no wonder the people have no trust in government. My thoughts as usual, Bev.
ReplyDeleteK&P mishandled the purchase of 252 Bald. Rd. costing the town unnecessary $$. K&P mishandled the review of the Annual and Special Town Meeting articles. K&P mishandled reviewing these questions we are voting on today. K&P mishandled the bankruptcy monitoring of Am. Tissue Mills which prevented the town in receiving millions $$. K&P contacted BOS members in an unethical way. That's just off the top of my head. What else should be on the list? And the town PAID them for this kind or service? They need to be sent packing. "The well is poisoned" We need to move on to better legal representation. I can't wait to attend the interviewing process for town counsel. It should be enlightening.
ReplyDeleteJust another item to the list of l---- from the school dept - superintendent - she said at Town Meeting that they did not use the kids as messengers from the school for their "propaganda". Well, just found that the school sent out a phone call to all the parents to go and vote for the school override. I know she did not use the kids this time but the teachers did before school was out. How did you like the light Mr.Claybaugh put there at the back door of the school when you left the Selectmens meeting.instead of fixing the light itself. Supposedly the cost if $800 to fix the light, but just think how much it would cost if someone fell down in the dark entrance of the parking lot. The light has been broken for more than ONE year. Great Maintenance for a school?
DeleteThere is a bill in the selectmen office for $900.00 to look into the soil at sadies pit from the site of the senior center, the amount of pcbs found was in the area of 250 parts per billion, not even in the neighborhood of reportable amounts to the state DEP. Nowhere near the 1000 parts per billion at the fed level. These amounts were the same as was found years ago and not touched because they were so small. Thanks to all who pushed to waste $900.00 of taxpayer money. On another issue, one of the staff lawyers from K&P called the selectmen office and left a message about a call from the attorney general office about bidding process at senior center. My question is simple: is this how K&P has always run up Templeton bill, by starting a case without a call from Templeton then charging us for it as if we requested the work when we did not, Len Kopelman needs to be told who works for who. You can find the number to K&P on their website, Kopelman & Paige, google that then click and get the number, call them and sound off, let em know who is the boss.
ReplyDeleteDo they (K&P) continue to work for the town into the new fiscal year or is tomorrow their last day as a vendor? is their contract open ended until dismissed or are there specific dates listed? Get them out of here ASAP. Enough is enough. Lord knows we don't need them around once the new school building project begins. There hasn't been any issues with the senior center. Its a good project with good people working on it. Its obvious "someone" is trying to get payback by causing trouble for that project. Could it possibly be someone who was reprimanded for harassment of a COA employee? Or was it someone who's precious town hall project was halted? Or both? Hmmm...
DeleteDon't assume K&P has a contract with the town.
ReplyDeleteI guess anonymous tips are welcomed by more than than the BOH and TMLWP. Who knew the AG's office acted on anonymous tips?? Not on tips signed by concerned citizens? Maybe Pauly should submits his complaints to the AG's office anonymously....maybe that is how you get government action.
Why would the AG's office contact town counsel first? Why wouldn't the AG's office contact the town about a complaint?
Can't make this stuff up!
