inground swimming pool on the common in front of the fire station? Why not? Or
maybe a BMX track on 90 acres off of Dudley Road "open space". It's
all "our" land right? What? No job security? How about a one-way on
South Road and Wellington Road? Other words at Starfire Ave and Wellington Road
would be one-way heading down to Templeton center and South Road would be
one-way from Templeton center up South Road past "our" nice Templeton
center school.
That should take up some problems. Okay folks-now here is the
clincher! Who on South Road won't like the idea, and who on Wellington Road
won't like the idea? Comment to Pauly's Templeton watch, come on open up. Don't
comment on the third seat on the right going into the candlelight Café. Go
ahead, go ahead bitch to Charlie at the "old” roundtable, if you know what
I mean, Charlie Carroll as on the planning board, get it? Other words they
would not be a bottleneck at the general store from Dudley Road, either way,
nobody is going to be satisfied. So bring on your ideas, especially Bob Whalen.
He, Bob is the only one I've heard speak up when South Road is mentioned for
the school or anything. Get it, if you don't put it on paper, stay home, as Bev
on the Hill says and remember verbal only last until the last word is said. Put

Three more
nice guys resigned from Winchendon this month. Hoo boy, what is Jim Kreidler
doing up in that little town? That makes five resigned in the past five months.
I hope they don't end up in Templeton again, get it? Resign in Winchendon and
end up with a job in Templeton hoo boy. How much more can Templeton stand? But
hey that might just be one of those things that happened in Winchendon, what is
the definition of resign? Caught on video-so we resigned. Is that the way it is
defined? Hee-Hee-Burp-Burp.
Now let's
talk about the special election. If the override is passed the average taxpayer-$175,000
value, taxes will go up about $78 per year forever, not just a year or two
years forever. The way the town was run after the recall and years before show
us taxpayers, who did what? Then when Columbus, Wilder, Mullins voted to hire
Carol Skelton back as part time interim coordinator-that was the end. Don't
blame Julie, or Mitchell or Bennett. Again I say watch the DVDs. I have them all
and I would be glad to show anyone, that will take their time to watch the DVD.

2012. Page 4-Sparks fly over Crocker pond committee-sounds just like Templeton.
Especially the part of the board of selectmen appointing a member that is not
wanted, get it, does that whole story sounds like Templeton? And again who was
lying on the Winchendon WD resignation, and the transfer station employee in
Winchendon? I wonder how the justice system works in Winchendon. In my opinion
Winchendon sounds like Butte Montana. A sheriff hung-three horses for stealing
a man, does that sound right for Winchendon? I never hear about the taxpayers
in Winchendon complaining. They all must be on a gag order. What do you think
Joe Snow? Maybe everyone in Winchendon is rich. I wonder who is going to resign
in Barre, after the audit of the tax people? Where did all that money go Mrs. M
that you paid in the real estate taxes? Hoo boy where is the law? Get Beaver
back in Barre and elect him Chief of Police, I would like to witness that move.
Don't forget
to attend the selectmen's meeting Monday, June 25, 2012 at Narragansett middle
school cafeteria. It should be real interesting to all that show up at 6:30 PM.
No hardhats, just tape recorders, it should bring attention to a very serious
issue. I mean all issues here in Templeton a serious but some have more
priority, hee hee hee. I see some big signs around town, I mean 4 x 8 signs
that say no override, vote no across the board, maybe these people with the big
dollar request can learn a lesson. Right Bud Chase-you should talk to chief
Whitaker on how to get one of those big trucks rebuilt for about a third of the
cost of a new truck. Columbus and Skelton are gone, so maybe next year we can
do a plan to get two or three good use trucks and save us taxpayers a lot of
money. A lot of those use trucks are not even broken in because of the economy.

The Highway Dept does not have a PILOT program or enterprise fund to use to purchase equipment to keep operating. The town needs to support their needs and make sure they have what they need to operate and that their employees are safe performing their job. The Highway Dept is just as important to our community's safety as the police/fire/rescue. How many accidents would occur if the roads weren't plowed or maintained? They are out there in all the elements--during all types of storms--working to keep us safe. If the roads aren't passable, police/fire/rescue can't perform their jobs. So, let's take care of necessary business and take care of our "home" by giving this dept what they badly need.

Ask the people stranded on dudley rd and barre rd intersection. In the slippery conditions if they think the front loader that fills my sander is not a piece of Important equipment that needs to operate when its needed for their saftey. The loader does the first step in getting the sanding done. Without them it doesn't!Plain and simple.
ReplyDeletewWe can't shovel it in the amounts we need to put out.It takes 5 sanders close to 3.5 hrs to sand 70+ miles of templeton roads. The loader runs the whole time.15-20- fills- each truck spreads 3-5 loads. The hills and problem areas get the job done first.Dudley rd and Barre rd hill are the first i hit and the people are sure glad to see me come by!
I would hate to not be able to help them out of the bind their in. We need the new loader,Trust me! I know.

Does Templeton have 35 miles of road which equals 70 lane miles, (one mile road equals 2 lane miles, one mile each direction) or do we have 70 miles of roads which equals 140 lane miles? A loader with a 4 yard bucket equals 2 buckets to load a 10 yard spreader, ( you do not want to over fill the spreader as DOT may not like this, it could make truck over weight and load may spill over when turning) So 5 trucks with 10 yard spreaders equals 20 buckets per run X 5 runs equals 100 buckets, probably 2 minutes per load so the loader "works" for ten minutes then idles until the trucks return, the loader is not actually "working" the whole time. If the loader is washed after every event and greased every say weekly or bi-weekly or every so many hours, those loaders should last 20 years. Maintenance saves money. Hual sand with hired trailer dumps rather than using ten wheelers and six wheelers. We could use liquid to deice and save on the loaders!
ReplyDeleteI have to add my two cents worth. Little town politics can be a pain, I don't know why the highway dept. seems to take a beating. All I do know is in all of the years I have lived on the end of South Road, I can count on one hand the times I could not get out of my yard to go to work, or any where I wanted to go. You won't find me giving them any grief. It is always easier to be critical, if you don't walk in someone elses boots. The highway department has been treated very badly in the past. This has to stop. We need to support them on Thursday. Just my two cents worth, Bev.

In the past jobs have been created for some, favored departments have gotten what they want while others have had to fight for peanuts. You guys already know I love our highway dept, but getting back to what Pauly said about changing South Road to one way. That would be fine. The only thing that would be a problem is the intersection of Dudley Road and Wellington. It is kind of narrow, and they fly up that hill into the common. I went to one of the first common improvment meetings. Tony Manca was there . I know that was what he did not like. At this point not everyone is going to be happy about everything. DeleteThe Light Dept. bought pizza (2 pieces each) for the Seniors on Friday at their Pizza Party. Yes, you could call this pandering to the Seniors. They raffled off 4 flashlights! Why didn't they give each Senior a flashlight? They have enough money in their kitty. Just my opinion.
DeleteAn electric company giving away flashlights? That's like a tire store raffling off a tire repair kit. It undermines their service/product. How about raffling off (or rather giving) the seniors new energy efficient light bulbs to help them SAVE energy and reduce their light bill. The new light bulbs are expensive to buy. I just bought an outdoor light bulb for $13. Yes, it will last years. But the up front cost is hard when every penny counts.
DeleteSounds like an audit would be a good idea. Let's get some facts...on paper...about how the light dept. operates. If it is run properly, then there should be no objection. Much like Pauly's request for an investigation of whole town operations. This town has been run like a club and not a business. It time to get all accounts in order, set new guidelines, plan for the future and encourage a professional environment of mutual respect and equal treatment of each dept.

The light department should be managed for the benefit of the taxpayers. We own the light company, it's not their private business.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, PILOT is not the way to go. I would prefer to keep electric rates at a minimum. The citizens should decide how we spend OUR money. If we pay less for electricity, we can then use the money to pay more in taxes. But that is still our choice.
I am very unhappy with the light dept. practice of giving away their old equipment. If the equipment is not worn out, don't replace it. What they're doing is appeasement, trying to keep the light dept. from any serious criticism. And playing big shots, "giving" their half-used equipment.
They should charge what it costs for electricity, not build up a large slush fund. The taxpayers of Templeton should have control of the purse strings.
Maybe we should sell the light dept. to National Grid, and use the several million dollars to pay down our debt?
To infoman 98- both loaders are over 20+years old!buckets are paper thin worn thru from use. We sand the middle of the road and let the cars move it around,it stays in the road and not the ditch this way. Please slow and move to the edge of the road when you see us/me with the strobe lamps on while sanding. modern equipment does the job better with the new designed sanders. we don't have the luxury of modern equipment, or money to purchase it either.

Top speed 15 mph with fully loaded sander, so 70+ miles not 140. Amounts put down are according to orders given when called in! DOT can check trucks at any time and take action if needed. Always use caution when driving on templetons roads in winter months and when stormy SLOW DOWN PLEASE!
PS DON'T PASS THE SANDERS ON THE RIGHT.

i had a thought, why not put the new school in Otter River where the other school was located, that is town owned land, should be plenty of land for an elementary school, if not, then bob c. house could be taken by eminent domain - lol. but seriously, why not in otter river???

ReplyDeleteThe land in Otter River is not really "owned" by the town. That land is part of the Stone Trust. Again, the issue is the amount of land for the building. There was a person from the Stone family that we contacted when that property was being eyed for a Town Hall and then a Senior Center.
What I recall is that the Trust was not interested in giving more land to the town. The back part of the property has to be preserved for playing fields for the kids.
I'm not a big a fan of eminent domain....even bob c's house. BC put up quite a stink when that property was used for a snow dump. That was the year the highway had to move the snow dumps three or four times....I think the highway workers drove round with snow in the trucks until it melted
Julie, thanks for the info, i didn't realize that it was part of the Stone property. I was joking about BC house/property being taken, just thought how would he like it... :) I, too, am not a fan of eminent domain, i do not like it at all, it is never a good idea. this is why the blog is a great way to get information and share information... do you know what happened to the idea of the school being built on state property? i thought they were looking into property on 202 by crow hill race track?
