Local agriculture focus of co-op
ORANGE — State Rep. Denise Andrews, D-Orange, has announced she will host two fundraising receptions to boost support for the North Quabbin Community Co-op’s efforts to expand operations to downtown Orange in the coming year.“I am proud to be a member of the co-op and share the vision of a community marketplace within walking distance for many in the downtown,” said Rep. Andrews. “Supporting local food supply and regional farms is critical for the health of this region. The co-op is a great organization that serves all of the nine towns of the North Quabbin and beyond.”
The co-op is a member driven, neighborhood market that aims to provide healthy food at an affordable price. Its mission is to build community and support local agriculture/
The fundraisers will take place on Dec. 20 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Bohemian Kitchen and Jan. 5 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Millers River Café.
The two fundraisers will feature food and local live music to supporter the organization currently located with the Orange Innovation Center.
Members are in the process of raising nearly $78,000 through capital, loans, and donations from the community. Thus far, the group has raised more than $33,000 toward their goal.
