Sickness closes elementary school in Berlin
TELEGRAM & GAZETTE STAFF
BERLIN — The Berlin Memorial School will be closed Tuesday because 25 percent of the students and a staff member were out of school Monday with a stomach bug.
School staff and administrators were disinfecting the elementary school early Monday morning after a parent contacted them to report that several students had come down with a stomach bug. The large number of absences Monday prompted the cancellation of classes Tuesday.
Karen Molnar, director of pupil personnel services for the Berlin-Boylston public schools, said in an email that more cleaning will take place Tuesday, and said parents have been asked to keep any student who has been sick home for at least 24 hours after symptoms have ended.
