TEMPLETON - A resident narrowly escaped injury after a Gardner man
plowed his pickup entirely through a house on State Road Thursday
afternoon.
The 2008 Ford F350 pickup only came to a rest after hitting a parked vehicle in the driveway on the other side of the house at 315 State Road, police said.
Police said Simon Quero-Luna of Gardner was on State Road (Route 68) heading toward Gardner when the truck went off the road and hit the house. The truck missed the owner of the house, who was sleeping on the couch, by one to two feet.
No injuries were reported, but police said the gaping hole left by the pickup caused major structural damage to the house. It was temporarily condemned by the building inspector.
The crash occurred around 11:22 a.m.; initial calls reported an explosion, but police said no explosions occurred. The crash remains under investigation; the Fire Department also responded.
