Audits and Free Cash

Audits and Free Cash

Free cash can't be spent until it is certified by the DOR.

DOR won't certify Free Cash until the audits  for FY 13, FY 14 and FY 15 are completed.

It is now the end of December 2015. All three audits would need to be complete by when? In order for the DOR to certify free cash to be used for FY 16? or FY 17?

Looks like FY 18 is the earliest that Free Cash will be certified.

Can't use Free cash until the DOR ceritifes it. DOR can't certify Free Cash  until the audits are completed.

It would be unwise to spend Free Cash before it is certified by the DOR.

Quite the pickle this Town is in! Let's add in 50 million dollars of new debt. How's that going to work out?

  1. Can't certify free cash, Can't set a legit tax rate, Can't get the past 3 years books straightened out yet we keep "finding" accounts to buy excavators.
We spend money on a school plan, a police station plan. How are we going to borrow the money for these purchases when our town government is so incompetent. How stupid are the people in Templeton???

Who in their right mind would lend this town the money? We have no idea what shape our town in is financially. What happens if after the town submits the information it is found we are in red.

The idea that our town that has not been capable of submitting accounts to get our budget certified for over 3 years should exclude us from attempting to borrow more money. It's highly irresponsible for the town to propose this massive expenditure without even knowing where we stand today.

  4. Are people working the hours they are supposed to? I think that is a good question. It may be a good idea to put time clocks in. With no one being the boss, who is going to tell them to get their jobs done.

  5. Has the advisory board done anything to advise about the status of the blog above?
Does the advisory board done any advising about the office financial dept productivity?
What would the advise be from them if they did?

  6. Mike sound like a good idea! If you have followed the towns progress you would know the people who are in the hot seats are not those who created the mess. Many help change overs have resulted in the no progress like we would expect it would. Another change would only create more mess and getting up to speed lag time we have seen in the past. To do as Mike suggests would create the need to have a town meeting to find the funds to pay more for wages and attract quality help. Some willing to risk their sanity to jump in the fire that's Templeton financials. I think by the annual town meeting in 2016 if the whole mess has not been taken care of after the time and money we have spent to fix it. We will find a need to change people, jobs and also the town as a whole. Will need to be realigned to be under a type of control we can keep control of. With the former Accountant and his own software leaving the town upside down and selectmen allowing things to run the way they were time has come to demand those in charge answer the question we should have asked a long time ago. What's the balance show?
