A comment made on the Fluoride Friday blog:
- ok..... fluoride is bad... i get it !!!! lets get over it and use this blog for what paul c wanted it to be..... ideas to straighten out this frikken town !!!!! all you ever wanted to know about fluoride but were afraid to ask has gone on for years. the town has problems !!!! lets get this blog to what paul intended it be, solve TOWN PROBLEMS,Please comment below on what you think the biggest problem is in Templeton? If you voted in the last election, you may have noticed a number of unfilled elected positions? Why is that? The $1 million dollar Templeton override to keep Phillipston Memorial Elementary school open was trounced. Why is that? Why would the response to some of these issues be less meetings by the Board of Selectmen?
I am not convinced that our problems are going to be solved by town government. After spending 18 years as a sewer commissioner and serving the town in other capacities it is apparent to me that our situation as a town and "we the people" is not improving. I believe the answer lies in a government that got thrown overboard years ago call County Government. Any takers on this one?
ReplyDeleteGovernment Structure!
ReplyDeleteLook at ours, but others too and you tell me how the people on the School Committee here in Templeton/Phillipston qualify to manage a $20+ million dollar annual budget and manage over 100 million in replaceable assets along with 209 employees and their retirement/pension plans.
Look at our Selectman, do they have the knowledge required to manage a $10 million dollar annual budget and many more millions under management and control.
Now throw a Superintendent at the school and a Town Administrator at the town who are both hired by the previously mentioned groups(Selectman and School Committee) to assist. Now you have management by committee of people elected based on..........
THEY RAN and won and popularity contest of people who bothered to show up
Why do we have a problem throughout the country?????
we just had a election, two people, as first timers ran unapposed and at a first time meeting were agreeing with two others about getting paid, more, or having to attend less meetings"!!!!to quote the only member to vote "no",why does anyone volunteer, run for election, then wish not to follow through with responsibilities , such as meeting" !!!!! looks like "we" are not going to get one hell of lot "for the good of the town" from this crew !!!!!!!
