Troubling Times

It has come to our attention that the public is discussing an issue on social media pertaining to Officer Edward Holden.
The Department and Town acknowledges that these are very troubling allegations and has taken this matter very seriously. Officer Holden was placed on administrative leave as soon as we had learned of the allegations and resulting investigation which lead to the official charges against Officer Holden.
We are - of course- disappointed that the many dedicated professionals in our department are having their reputations brought into question as a result of this matter. Our pledge to the community is that we will monitor the court case as is progresses and take immediate, appropriate action as warranted. We want our residents to know that we are dedicated to professionalism in our service to them.
Given this is a personnel matter with the Officer due the presumption of “innocent until proven guilty”, we cannot make any further comments at this time.
We have no further information pertaining to this matter because the alleged offenses and charges originated in another jurisdiction. For further information inquiries should be made to the Northwestern District Attorneys’ Office.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Bennett
Chief of Police

  1. Why was the Town not notified that one of its Police Officers was on Administrative leave while under investigation for Rape and Indecent assault and battery of a minor.

How long was He on leave, under investigation without any notification to the town.

I feel this shows a serious failure in Public Safety. The public should be notified when someone to whom such awesome authority is given is under State investigation for a serious violent crime. How many citizens could be negatively exposed to a violent act between the time the Police Department/Administration knew of these charges and them notifying the public.

(keeps the tax down, good to get re-elected, but cost twice what 15 year would have been. select head that wouldn't let tax payers talk at meetings, on and on !!!! if no one that has a idea how to help the town, not themselves, IT AINT CHANGING !!!!!!
