FITCHBURG -- While being recognized at Wednesday's Montachusett Public Health Network meeting for an award he recently received, health agent Philip Leger said in their task of preventing health public health problems, success means a lack of public attention. The Montachusett Public Health Network is an organization of 11 local communities that share board of health resources and is based out of the Fitchburg Board of Health. Two of its members received awards in October during the annual conference of the Massachusetts Health Officers Association, a statewide association for public health workers, and both were recognized for the award at Wednesday's Montachusett Public Health Network meeting.

Leger is the registered sanitarian and health agent for Phillipston and Petersham and the registered sanitarian for Royalston. He received the Michael D. Saraco Award, which is an acknowledgment of "his vast knowledge in the field of public health and for dedication, loyalty, enthusiasm and leadership in the MHOA," according to the engraving on the award plaque
