  2. This hearing is very important for the future of the Town of Templeton.

For over 125 years the Fernald school...TDC...has not paid one dime in taxes to the Town on over 2200 acres of land and property.

Now that the TDC has closed, the state would like Templeton to pick up the costs for the roads, water infrastructure, possible sewer infrastructure as wells police and fire protection.

There is a map which shows the above mentioned roads. Where is the town meeting vote accepting these roads as town roads?

By voting to discontinue these roads, Templeton may be able to force the state to bring these roads and the infrastructure up to current standards before they are accepted as town roads by town meeting.

Talk of increasing the PILOT payment to Templeton for state owned lands is a chimera. You can hope all you want, but it will never be realized. Look at Gardner's mitigation money for the prison. It's the first thing cut when times get tough for the state. Look at the playground funding...another 9C victim!

Templeton does not have the financial resources to provide services and infrastructure improvements to the former TDC. It is a sure way to bankrupt the town!

Vote for JULIE FARRELL on May 4th!

    See you tonight!

    1. Julie is right about the need for us to be proactive. I found it unbelievable that this agency has the nerve to think they can get away with handing us their mess, all of which is in great need of repair, and that we would smile and say thank you !! The sewer plant at the TDC is in very bad shape and has to be brought up to acceptable standards. Big bucks, that the State should have taken care of years ago. The powers to be built a couple of "group homes" and put septic systems in to avoid dealing with the biggest issue their failing system. This leaves some of the big buildings empty, to do what fall down. get broken into ?? No one can use these buildings with out a septic system ?? Not on my dime, thank you...I wonder who approved the new construction and septic ?? They always did their own thing with out town approval, so no doubt, it was the same with the new buildings they put up. The water system is in need of repair, as well as the electrical. We will have to see how Light and Water handle this ?? If Bud and the boys had to care for the road at the TDC this past winter, it would have affected us all, because they would have spent the majority of their efforts just trying to keep their road open. Thanks but no thanks. Bev.
