TEMPLETON - A Narragansett coach has been placed on administrative
leave following a complaint that he sent inappropriate content to a
student.
In a letter to the school district community, Superintendent of Schools Christopher Casavant said the complaint was made to the Templeton Police Department. He said that while the allegation is being investigated by police, the coach has been told to have no contact with any student associated with the alleged incident and that he may not be present for any practice or game. He was also told to have no contact with any coach or student associated with the school district, according to the superintendent’s letter, which was posted on the district Facebook page.
A spokesman for Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. said he could not comment on any ongoing investigation, other than to say no one has been charged in any current investigation in Templeton.
The latest incident follows the arrest in August of Warren Anderson, a math teacher at Narragansett Regional High School. Mr. Anderson, a resident of Harvard, was charged in federal court with receiving and possessing child pornography. In 2016, Matthew Kacavich of Worcester, also a teacher at the high school, was charged with disseminating obscene matter to a minor and trafficking a person under 18 for sexual servitude.
The school district is made up of students from Templeton and Phillipston.
