When in doubt… GET IT OUT!

I support all three articles (Articles 54, 55, and 56) regarding water fluoridation.

The BOS office received an interesting e-mail from James Reeves. James Reeves is a retired civil engineer from Lafayette, LA. He writes:

This helps explain why only 5% of the world and only 3% of Europe fluoridate their drinking water.
As you consider fluoridation in your city, I hope you will give consideration to my professional opinion, “Fluoride is a waste of tax money,” below.
New York scientist and premier international authority on fluoride, Dr. Paul Connett, offers the most complete scientific proof  of the ineffectiveness and health dangers of this drug in his recent book,
"The Case Against Fluoride: How Hazardous Waste Ended Up in Our Drinking Water and the Bad Science and Powerful Politics That Keep It There"
It contains over 1200 scientific references (over 80 pages), showing that fluoride is ineffective for teeth and causes cancer, thyroid & pineal gland damage, broken hips from brittle bones, lowered IQ, kidney disease, arthritis and other serious health problems.
One reference is a 2006 study by Dr. Elise Bassin, DDS, Harvard University, published in a cancer journal to show a fivefold increase in bone cancer in young people who have consumed fluoride in their drinking water.
Interestingly, a recent report from Harvard University confirms the included 24 studies (now 36 studies) showing that drinking fluoridated water
lowers children’s IQ.

In addition, fluoridation is scandalously wasteful. Cities are wasting over 99% of the money spent on fluoride each year, with most of that  fluoride chemical going directly down the drain, polluting the environment.
Voters in my city were extremely upset when they learned of this waste, so in 2009 the city council voted 8 to 1 to reject fluoridation.
Your water department can verify  the following information. The numbers may vary slightly in different cities.

The entire e-mail thread is available HERE.

This e-mail was unsolicited. I called Mr. Reeves and we spoke for a few minutes. I gave him a heads up that I would be posting his e-mail to the blog.

Yes, SERIOUSLY!

This topic will continue to be brought forward for consideration at town meeting. I have not done as much research on fluoride as my husband, but I am convinced that fluoride is a poison that should not be added to any public water supply. When in doubt, get it out!

I am convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that water fluoridation causes HARM. I feel it is my responsibility, an obligation, to support the discussion of this topic at town meeting.

My opinions…supported by FACTS ! ! !

  1. I'm sure glad I've had the good fortune to drink well water out hear on the lower forty. I got an artesian and shallow well and still feel pretty healthy. I probably won't make it to the meeting but hope people in town see that drinking rat poison like young bob tells us can't be a good thing. Time for the next generation to step to the plate.

    1. Don't hold your breath waiting for the next generation to step up. I was not impressed with the behavior of the "young adults" the other night. Most of the people I have talked with, were not the least bit impressed, so I am not alone. I hope these people will get the whole picture sooner or later. The future of our town depends on it. As for fluoride, most of our readers know how I feel. If you do not want to hear about it again, vote it out. You will be doing everyone a favor. Bev.

  2. If the parents of school age children really care about their kids they should know that fluoride has been shown to lower IQ in studies compiled at Harvard School of Public Health. Fluoride is also a neurotoxin and may be one of the culprits in learning disorders. Fluoride has been associated with Down's syndrome and lowers thyroid function. Please consider coming to town meeting and voting yes on articles 54,.55 amd 56.

    1. The study showed that fluoride in HIGH DOSES caused neurological damage. Guess what? Anything in high doses can cause damage to the body. Vitamins in high doses have negative impacts on your health.

Parents of school age children should care about the fluoride but not because of the "possible lowering of iq" but because too much fluoridation during tooth development does lead to dental fluorosis.
"Because dental fluorosis is a condition that occurs when teeth are forming, only children aged 8 years old or younger are at risk. Children older than 8 years, adolescents, and adults are not susceptible to dental fluorosis." http://www.cdc.gov/fluoridation/safety.htm
^Reason why you should be monitoring your children as they brush their teeth to make sure they don't use too much toothpaste or eat it. So if you are over 8 years old then you have nothing to worry about!

So yeah fluoride is obviously terrible, because the CDC doesn't know what they are talking about.

  3. 41% of teenage children have dental fluorosis. To think that fluoride only effects the teeth is absurd. The Great Fluoride Gamble is that somehow fluoride passes by all the other organs of the body and only deposits itself in our teeth. With every other person getting hip replacements and bone fractures in the elderly increasing in fluoride high areas it may make sense to vote this poison out of our water supply. When the head toxicologist for the EPA states that his finding show that fluoride is both carcinogenic and mutagenic we should listen to his concerns. 2000 Union Scientists at the EPA also agree that because of the vulnerable populations to fluoride the limit should be set at zero. Our government has not done due diligence in regards to doing research on fluoride, if you do not look you will not find. Please vote yes on all three fluoride articles tonight. When in doubt, get it out. Fluoride is more toxic than less and only slightly less toxic than arsenic. Fluoride was used as a rat poison for a reason. Fluoride is also used as an insecticide.
