80th Birthday Bash

80th Birthday Bash

The museum owned by the Narragansett Historical Society of Templeton is turning 80 later this year, and you're invited to help us celebrate! We're planning an 80th birthday bash Saturday, June 28, from 2-4 p.m. at our museum on The Common in historic Templeton Center. Our building was purchased and restored in 1934 (80 years ago) through a bequest from Mrs. Adelaide Howland, a Templeton native. Special guest at our celebration will be Eleanor Roosevelt -- yes; the wife of FDR. (Well, a member of the historical society will give a "spirited" performance as Eleanor.) Eleanor stopped at the Chetwood Inn in Templeton in June 1941, where she enjoyed a slice of sour cream raisin pie, on her return trip to Hyde Park from Maine. We'll be offering tours, as well as music, birthday cake, and of course, sour cream raisin pie in the garden in honor of the occasion. Admission is free. Visitors are welcome to bring a monetary birthday gift to help us celebrate.

Hope to see you there.
