For some reason the part 2 video of the meeting stops at 1 minute and begins to show a previous meeting of administrators interview. Not sure why and we try to get it corrected. The part missing is of the solar vote issue and the exchanges between solar reps and light manager,myself and others. Mr. Moschetti has requested a special town meeting to have another go at the vote and see if the people will prevote a decision for the select board to ok a deal. I think this information and more about the fair way to calculate a PILOT amount shoud be known to the public and the cost of not knowing the rules are what Templeton is faced with now. The vote is for us to take on the issues and for us to vote to allow a future ok may be a problem. Things in town are in enough confusion as it is.
There is no way I am giving up my right to vote on this matter to anyone. The fact they gave us a lousy deal to start with, is not my fault. Because it is a "good deal" for the Light Department does not mean we should get the short end of the stick. The man who spoke about the solar company did say they are a part of a bigger company. I think it is safe to say multi million dollar company. The fact remains, this company had done business with towns much bigger than us, I would imagine, and paying a PILOT is a part of doing business. Do Bart and I get a tax break if we give everyone in town a good deal on their plants? That does not cut it for us, and it should not go for these people. This is not going to be the last solar deal we will see in town, so what we do will set a precedent for the future. It sounds like J.D. does not want another solar deal in town because he said this would fill the percentage for solar he has allotted in his plan, or something to that affect. Does that mean if someone else wants to clear a good size spot and fill it with these panels, the Light Co. won't buy the power ?? Someone should ask Driscoll why the Light Company bought oil last winter, or why he does everything through MMWIC ? It seems not all of the municipal light plants to things his way, so maybe J.D. should rethink his business plan before electricity costs us more than if we had National Grid. This is a deal everyone should pay attention to because what we do will have a lasting affect on the people in this town. Bev.
