A Light and Water meeting, or a bad act?‏

I went to the meeting of the Light and Water meeting tonight. Most of it was fairly usual, going through the usual stuff. It sounds like Mr. Driscoll has made some corrections to his budget. It was kind of hard to hear, as he mumbles. The Commissioners are not at all happy, with the Articles back on the agenda to replace them, to give them a quarter of a years worth of money to run the water department, until the Attorney General can make a determination. Lets put it this way, they were not very happy with much of anything.

Mark Moschetti, from the sewer Department, came to the meeting to as the Water Commissioners for help, in putting pressure in people who refuse to pay their water bills. This has been asked before, and refused, but maybe this time they will help, so it will look like they will actually work with another Department. No answer, guess they will decide this in one of their closed meetings.

Later on in the meeting Mr. Driscoll ranted about the people who live in all electric apartments, do not want to pay their bills, and take off in the spring, leaving the Light Co. on the hook. Seems that may call for increasing the deposit for electricity, so that punishes the people who would do no wrong?? The way he carried on, made me want to ask, why is it worse for you, than the Sewer Department ?? JD does not care if they get stuck!! In most cities and towns, smart ones, the water and sewer is on the same bill. Don't pay and off goes your water!

The majority of the meeting was a ONE MAN SHOW, STARRING JOHN  DRISCOLL . This man out did himself, preaching to the choir, ranting about Mr. Spring, like he was not even there, ranting about Julie, with out addressing her either. It was so weird!! I can tell you he has no respect for town meeting or the vote of the people. He does not feel that he has to answer to the Selectmen, will not live with a partial budget. Their lawyer has convinced these people that they are right, so regardless if they are right or not, it looks to me like he has drawn a line in the sand, and will not cross it. This is a very dumb tact to take, as we pay his way, and what does he do if his lawyer is wrong?? I know if given a chance, I would say, don't let the door hit you on your way out. These guys are burning their bridges with every one in town, with the exceptions of the Lions Club, who they are counting on to bail their ass out at the Special Town Meeting. Remember, The town is run, by those that show up! Thanks to the people who attended tonight, next time we need popcorn, as always, my opinion, Bev.

  1. One thing was clear last night, John Driscoll does not understand how Town Meetings work. He carries on over a bill, that was not paid by the treasurer"s office last year. In the confusion of the change in people running that office, it was missed. He did not understand that a Town Meeting vote was needed to clean up bills from a previous year. Also, he does not understand that these things are a law, not something "made up", just to make him unhappy. Any hope of having the Attorney General making a decision is gone, from what I got from that meeting. We would not be in this position, if JD had simply done his job in the first place, something he can not see. He did not have to increase the rate on your water bill to 56.00. They could have carried it over to next year, and maybe made enough to take care of the loss. You have to understand, this department is running in the red, by at least 65,000. and going up, because of legal costs. It is up to you and the rest of the town voters, to decide if you will allow this department to carry on like you have no say in their budget, or the way they do business. There is a interesting OPED in the Gsnoos. Mr. Spring went to the paper to see Mr. Caamano's after he wrote a extremely one sided article, with JD"s help. Bev
