Time for a change..............to what?
As I read an article in The Gardner News on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 titled Farrell loses seat on Board, I noticed a few things that give me pause; the first thing was a feeling that I was seeing another individual coming into politics in a self serving way. Ms. Richard referenced her street, Orchard Lane and how she will reference that if anyone ever questions if she will get things done. Ms. Richard emphasized how she got her street paved and that sounds a little self centered to me but time will tell.
Ms. Richard stated in the article how she would use her determination to explore several issues in town such as the rising tax rate and the delay in the senior center opening. On the senior center, I would suggest a visit to the Council on the Aging director and ask her about the delay (s) and then I would suggest Ms. Richard call the Templeton Water superintendent Ron Daven and ask him about it. I think if I was asking the questions, I would ask what is the hold up, if any, with the installation of the water meter at the senior center? On the rise of property taxes, the selectmen do not set the tax rate, the Board of Assessors do that. Also, history has shown us that if you keep the tax rate low without taking into account that the cost of running the Town increases almost yearly, you will lead the Town back down the same path it has already gone down concerning that item. I am not sure the Town wants to revisit that path again.
The other thing that stood out was Ms. Richard said she intended to stay in the background before stepping into the spotlight. Well, if she intends to just be a bump on the table, we already have one selectmen doing that, I am not sure adding another one is anyone's idea of change. Just for the record Ms. Richards, you are now in the spotlight! Now, if you are in favor of a new school Ms. Richard, then you will have to go to the voters, the taxpayers and push for a property tax increase because that is how things are paid for by the Town, thru taxes. What gets me is the pictures all show people holding signs for J. Richard, but not showing their faces. It appears they don't believe in what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteMs. Richards was not the only one hiding in the background. Bubba and the rest of the echo hill gang kept their distance until the very end. Templeton gets the government we deserve when they vote to put the fox back in the hen house. So now the Town has a variety of Selectmen, one confused, one falling asleep falling out of the chair, one who avoids conflict, one who knows right from wrong and one who has no clue at all, to run our town. Well we know, Echo Hill. will tell Ms. Richard what to do. Maybe Ms. Wilder will come to her aid. Time will tell, it will all come out in the wash. Bev.
