Wednesday’s
Gardner News had two
local editorials: one regarding predator drones; the other regarding
TMLWP. I thought I would post them here
because I know many people no longer subscribe to the Gardner News.
Where
was Mark Haranas at Monday’s BOS meeting? Hope he’s ok.

Well, 2 letters to editor and all I have to say on the drone issue is the drones are killing people who need killing. Have someone you know get hit by an IED and your tune changes real fast, nough said. As for the light commission, people need to realize that doing a good job goes beyond cutting trees back, just like doing a good job as a selectmen goes beyond setting the annual budget. It is about being responsive and accountable to your customers and/or constituents. It is about service and answering questions and not stonewalling. Begin with an honest conversation with a PILOT program for starters. 2nd, Templeton no longer has some of the cheapest electric rates in the state. When I sit at a meeting as a selectmen and listen to the general manager of Templeton Light & Water, TEMPLTON Light and he states he does not work for the town of Templeton but for the municiple light dept, there is a problem and a lack of understanding to put it mildly. The letter writer needs to attend some light meetings and talk to some people who regularly attend those meetings and see what response you get from those who have been trying to talk with the commissioners and get answers to questions.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting the Snooze, as we do not get the rag. I did not know that one could place an ad in the Letters to the Editor, because this sure reads like an ad that went through committee, Echo Hill committee that is. Seems like the ramping up of the propaganda machine has begun, getting ready for election and Special Town Meeting.
ReplyDeleteThe writer could have learned more about the light dept if he had ever gone to a meeting there. If he did his pen would have run out of ink and not have been able to find the reason to ring the bell for the commission. Ring it for the help, but not the commission they ring their own bells. Not Dana?

#1 We didn't have the heavy, wet snow that places that lost power had
ReplyDelete#2 We didn't have the high sustained winds that places that lost power had
#3 The ices storm brought down the majority of at risk trees
#4 Our region has more large snowstorms than towards the south and east. So, we're more prepared due to experience.
And, if this was a genuine letter of gratitude, they would have included the Highway Dept in their praise. And all the other departments that helped as well. The light dept. is only one part, one cog in a large machine. It takes the efforts of all the parts to make things work. I, too, appreciate the light dept's work during the storm. But if I was to take the time to write a letter to the editor, I would be sure to thank the entire town's depts. Propaganda is easy to spot.
