Meetings !!

The Planning Board will be holding a meeting on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in the Kiva at 6:30 p.m. The agenda has been posted. There is a hearing scheduled for 7:00 p.m. regarding the former Stuart property.

TMLWP meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. The Light and Water agendas are not posted to the town website. Light department  agenda and the Water department  agenda . There is also a meeting of the Berkshire Wind Cooperative on Tuesday afternoon. Hopefully, there will discussion at the Light Department meting about the PILOT payment. The American Public Power Association has documentation on how to calculate the PILOT payment.

I also have questions about the legal invoices submitted by TMLWP. Usually, a legal invoice will have some detail on it like this invoice from Ferriter and Ferriter. I think it’s curious that the invoices from Doucette & LaRose  for Sept. and Oct. lack any detail at all. Why would anyone sign off on these invoices?

  1. Looks like our buddy Driscoll went to the lawyer, for legal clarification, after Mr. Spring, chairman of the AV, told him he wanted to see the budget for the light and water. What are they submitting these bills to the selectman for? Approval? Payment? They can't have their cake, and eat it to! I do not think you had to be a Harvard lawyer to understand the rules, around the relationship with the light and water. They have to include the town in their budget process, wether they like it or not. See how easy it is to spend money when it is not yours! Tuesday nights meeting should prove very interesting. Try to make it. Bev.

  2. Did they go directly to the attorney or did they get approval from Mr. Ritter first--as all town depts are supposed to do? I was under the impression that the Advisory Board (Finance Committee) had authorization to view any and all financial records of all town depts. No one else seems to have a problem letting the AB see their records. WHY would the L&W dept have a problem? Here's free legal clarification for you, Mr. Driscoll...you do not run a private business. Your dept is directly linked to the town, thus the word "municipal" in the name of your dept. Good lord! How is the AB going to make recommendations to the town on how to pay for all the debt if they don't have a solid and realistic understanding of all the debt on the table? Honestly, how much longer is the town going to let this man conduct his business so unprofessionally? This blatant refusal to cooperate on any level with the town is beyond acceptable behavior. Mr. Driscoll, maybe you should go work for National Grid or NStar. Seems more your speed.

    1. I 'm sorry, I misunderstood Julies blog. The bills did not go to the selectmen's office. They belonged to the light dept. Bev.

  3. Each department submits their bills to the accountant. In the case of light and water, two out of three commissioners need to sign the vendor warrant which then ignores to the accountant. The selectmen sign off on the vendor warrant for all Town Departments INCLUDING Light and Water.

I don't know why anyone would sign off on an invoice with no detail like the invoices from Doucette &LaRose.
