NRSD School Budget FY 18
This is the link to the NRSD school budget for FY 18.
On page 5 of the budget:
One question to ask at town meeting:
Why did Templeton's additional appropriation increase by 20.44%?
That is if questions on the budget are allowed at town meeting.
There will be plenty of questions to ask, and seeing that the people pay the bills, they had better be able to ask questions. One question that may come up is our new Superintend being honest with us ? Bev.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, why such an increase in transportation costs. It's not fuel, it's not payroll, what is the reason for the increases?
ReplyDeleteI sure hope someone is paying attention. Anyone asking for more than 2-5% increase is gouging customers.
Ok, please, can someone explain why Templeton share goes up, Phillipston share goes down when Templeton enrollment went down and Phillipstons went up?
This seems ass backwards.
See Dave's answer regarding transportation costs. The district is part of a consortium with Gardner and Winchendon (I think) for transportation. They went out to bd and only one bid came back. They went out to bid again with the same result.
DeleteWell I think templeton share went up because of elementary kids usejng that school instead of TC. Not fair for phillipston to pay for templeton mistakes and poor decisions!!!
ReplyDeleteBuss contract bid from only one company and after a second attempt they still only had one bid.
ReplyDeleteNo competition means higher bids.
Casavant gave us that answer at the last meeting.
What was the savings that not having to HEAT, LIGHT or PROVIDE WATER to TC come to? Does the savings of not having to pay those expenses cover what? The students are being housed at the Middle School for schooling, but what IF ANY extra cost is it to the school? The school would have heating, lights and water even without the extra students? So what exactly is the cost of the elementary students there? Not teachers, they would be paid regardless of which building they teach in. Not school supplies, they would have been used in TC. So what exactly is the increase?
ReplyDeleteThere has to be some cost. If I was a phillipston resident I would be up in arms on why is phillipston people subsidizing templeton elementary students. !!!
Deletesure would like to see the E+D fund over the last 7 years and see when the rob peter to pay paul will hit bottom.
ReplyDelete415k of the budget we are looking at will be a problem like the town has now with no reserves and now other way to pay.
The town has shown the ability to cut but we have only been lied to by the Miller crew and the Wise before her.
So what is or when will we get the E+D breakdown to see how much extra we paid out last year. With the new school on hold till funding is made possible and extra time needed to do Audits will this towns questions still go unanswered or will there be some closure to the issues Templeton has faced for years?
