“As the saying goes, when it rains it pours”

“As the saying goes, when it rains it pours”
Today is one of those days at the highway department when you just want to drive all of the equipment over a cliff,,, that is if it ran !
From the end of Friday to the beginning of Monday and Tuesday one thing after another has caused equipment to break. The mechanic is picking his battles as parts are available . And to complicate matters ,storms In the south have delayed  parts already on order.
Hurry up and wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
We do the best with what we have and have little or no control over the fleet break downs  when the fleet is in the condition it is in. With the hard winter we have had and limited time to do repairs things  may not improve  any time soon.
As pothole season closes in on us and you read all the Blogs about how to do it the way it should be done remember what we have to do It with. Please slow down when you see us in the roads and help our safety while we make the roads safer for you.

Just for the record cold patch does work and that’s why we use it. Many places we have patched are still in good shape and many times we see the new holes are after the patched areas. This is caused by the pressure of the water under the tar popping out the weaker places.

  1. After reading the first article on more money needed for the schools it appears another battle will ensue at this years annual town meeting or possibly meeting after meeting after meeting. I am not a new car kind of guy but there does come a time when equipment needs to be replaced with something that works. When something is not working properly it needs to be evaluated as to what is the problem. John Taylor Gatto has found that compulsory education does not work and has written on the subject with his excellent book The Underground History of American Education. It has been estimated that only about three percent of the population actually reads books so it is unlikely many of us will ever take the time to learn what Mr. Gatto has to say, that's ok. For those who like a more friendly type of media exchange, here is Mr. Gatto explaining some of his material. Gatto
