So let me add one more name as to who Kopelman & Paige are working for – Gerald Skelton!!!!
My Name is Paul H Cosentino. I started this Blog in 2011 because of what I believe to be wrongdoings in town government. This Blog is to keep the citizens of Templeton informed. It is also for the citizens of Templeton to post their comments and concerns.

Who exactly does Kopelman & Paige work for??
When Leonard Kopelman was recently asked who K& P works for, if they work for the town of Templeton – his answer was “We work for the majority of the Selectmen”. So I guess this means that not only do the citizens of Templeton not have an attorney working for their best interest. The other elected boards, the Board of Health, Assessors, Cemetery Commission, Planning Board, Sewer Commission even the Town Clerk doesn’t have legal representation.

I have a question to anyone that is an attorney (or has access to one)...
ReplyDeleteIf a person is suing a town for wrongful termination and they hire an attorney that also works for the same law firm that works for said town, is that a conflict of interest or some type of issue of double dipping? How could two attorneys from the same law firm sit on either side of the aisle and conduct a non-biased trial? To me, this seems wrong. I welcome anyone to explain.
Also, I take great offense to an attorney for the town saying he works for the BOS...and only 3 of them at that! The town attorneys work for ME and YOU and everyone else that lives here. How incredibly rude and unprofessional! We pay his legal bills, not the BOS (or only 3 of them). I am irate at ANY attitude like this from an attorney who should know better. I know all attorneys are not soul-less, evil people...but this man certainly plays into the stereotype really well. I hope he enjoys all his expensive toys and vacations that we're paying for!
Olive,
ReplyDeleteFor many years i had misgivings about the legal advice received by the town form K+P. I have not voted to appoint K+P for many years, during my time on the Board of Selectmen.
This year, I was finally able to conduct interviews for town counsel. They were held over the summer. They were not well attended, but they were open to the public. I voted for Blatman, Bobrowski & Mead because I thought the flat fee structure ($5,000/month) plus office hours would be beneficial in keeping the town out of needless lawsuits.
All of my dealings with Lisa Mead were professional. I believe department heads appreciated the ability to attend office hours and bring their concerns directly to town counsel without the town coordinator being the intermediary.
Alas, those days are gone. Templeton is headed back to the realm of needless litigation and substandard legal advice(in my opinion) for which we as taxpayers pay top dollar!
To understand where we are headed in regards to legal representation from Leonard Kopelman I would suggest these two books written by excellent and courageous Jewish authors Ilan Pappi (The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine)and Michael Newmann(The Case Against Israel). In my opinion Mr. Kopelman has no regard for the rule of law and will do what he must to further his own agenda and those who also share that agenda. One World Government everyone?
DeleteI have heard from some employees who cringe at the thought of going back to K & P seems it was nice for the departments to have an atty with office hours without them having to worry about "running up the bill" I was at the atty interviews - BB & M were inpressive - K & P not so much. I do remember when Mr. Columbus asked Leonard Kopelman about Amer tissue mills and the expired writs of attachment and bankruptcy - his answer was about tax abatements and other things - nothing to do with the question. in other words if you can't justify what you screwed up or charged the town for - just give a bunch of BS
DeleteCarve is also trying to rid ourselves of K&P. Any suggestions of information send to fixcarver.com. Thank you and keep up the good fight representing the residents and not the special interests.
ReplyDeleteThanks for providing information that could help other towns improve their legal representation, and save alot of money by getting rid of these K&P crooks.
ReplyDeleteSORRY, IT SHOULD HAVE SAID CARVER MA.
